Bestselling Author, Mary Ting joins Magic Johnson Foundation’s Author Series for “Get Caught Reading” month

WHAT: The Magic Johnson Foundation’s “Magic of Reading” Program continues its Author Series with former teacher, educator and bestselling author, Mary Ting, who will visit George Washing Carver Elementary in Los Angeles and Ralph J. Bunche Elementary School in Carson to share her children’s book, “No Bullies Allowed” from the Zoey's Adventures series. “No Bullies” is a story of personal empowerment that teaches children of all ages how to face their fears and combat the problem of being bullied.

WHO: MJF’s Magic Of Reading Program - An interactive learning program/experience that introduces and exposes youth to the wonderful world of reading through books, interactive experiences, programs, technology and mentors/authors who help youth improve reading skills, increase self esteem, raise cultural awareness, and promote diversity. Mary Ting- A former teacher/educator for 19 years and critically acclaimed for her best selling series, “Crossroads” (Reader’s Favorite Gold Medal Winner/Young Adult category 2012)

BACKGROUND: The Author Series, a component of the Magic of Reading Program, is being hosted to provide youth an opportunity to interact with bestselling authors and playwrights who will share their personal stories and experiences through literature with youth. MJF will be hosting events in Los Angeles and other markets to support our literacy efforts. Mary Ting joins James “Bonecrusher” Smith, Michael Patrick McDonald “All Souls: A Family Story” and others who are supporting this effort.
